A Visit to Baptist Memorial Hospital

By Buttons the Bear

Buttons Needs Surgery

Life isn't easy, God, is it? Sometimes I feel sick, and I get tired and sad, and I just feel like giving up.

Buttons the Bear Needs Surgery

I don't like to be sick, but surgery will help me.

Buttons the Bear Goes to the Hospital

Cheer me up, God. I am not feeling well today. I would like to be going to school or playing with the other kids, but here I am in the hospital. It's not fun being sick, and I don't want my friends to forget me while I'm sick.

Dear God,

We ask that you protect this child as she goes into surgery and guide the surgeon's hand and be with the nurses as they care for her needs after surgery.

Comfort her parents during this time of their child's illness and give them strength. Lord, help her to feel better soon and grant to her a complete recovery.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Buttons Has an Operation

The doctors and nurses were so nice, and following the operation, they gave me medicine to help the pain. Now I want to sleep and I will feel better soon. Thank you, God, for always being with me.

My surgery was necessary, and my friend prayed for me.

Melissa Prays for Buttons

Dear God,

Help my friend get out of surgery safely. Please be with my friend's family and let them know that God is with them. Please be with the doctors during the time of surgery, and God, please let my friend feel better soon.

Buttons Thanks God

Thank you, God, for my parents who love me so much when I am not well.

Thank you for giving them to me.

Thank you, God, for caring for me through them.

My parents were so helpful.

A Parent's Prayer

Dear God,

Please be with my child today. Father, help her be unafraid as she is put to sleep, and guide the surgeon's hands as he operates on her small body. Let the operating room be peaceful and calm as the team of doctors and nurses work to restore her health. Father, thank you for the gift of this precious child; thank you for the joy and love she has brought into our lives. Bless her with a swift and smooth recovery and grant us wisdom as we parent her again. Amen.

The doctors and nurses were so good to me.

They also prayed for me.

A Patient's Prayer

Dear God,

It's me, I don't want to have surgery, and I'm sad. But remember God how sometimes when I see sad things I'm sad, and when I see or think happy things, I'm happy.

Maybe if you'll help me, I'll think about some happy things, like my smart doctor who knows what's wrong with me and how to fix it.

What about the nurses who smile and pat me when they bring me my medicines? I think they really care about me. I'm thinking about all my friends now God and how glad they'll be to see me. I'll ride my bike and play when I'm well. I'll eat ice cream, and I'll even clean up my room. It doesn't make me happy to clean my room, but I'm happy when it's all done.

I'm especially happy when someone hugs me God, just like I feel you doing right now. I feel warm and safe and loved. Would you hug my doctor, too, and my momma and daddy and all my friends? When I go to sleep for my surgery, maybe you could help me put a smile on my face.

Thank you for helping me feel good.

I love everybody at Baptist Hospital.

I am leaving Baptist Hospital and everybody has been so good to me. I am glad there are places like this where people really care.

I am happy to be with my family and friends again, and I know they will help me to feel better each day so I can run and play.

The End.
